Kathleen Edwards - Asking For Flowers Canadian songstress Kathleen Edwards returns with her third studio album and it is, by turns, sultry sweet. 'The Cheapest Key," for instance, the album's lead track, is a bold and brazen statement of purpose, while "Sure as S," "Oil Man's War" and "I Make the Dough, You Get the Glory" don't pull any punches, either. On the softer side, "Scared at Night" and "Goodnight, California" are both touching and evocative. "Asking for Flowers" is a sturdy, pleasing effort from a promising artist who is clearly coming into her own. KEY TRACK: 'The Cheapest Key" Rating: 3 out of 5 Jeff Wisser pioneerlocal.com/evanston |
