Kathleen Edwards - Asking For Flowers The 29-year old Canadian is a classically trained violinist. But when she stumbled across American mainstreampop as a teenager and later became absorbed in her older brother's collection of Bob Dylan, Neil Young and Tom Petty, her change of course was ineviteble and the guitar became the instrument of choice. On her two earlier studio albums, Failer (2003) and Back To Me (2005), she has shown to be a singer/songwriter that fits just as well in country as well as in alternative poprock. You see that it still works perfect with the opening duo "Buffalo" and 'The Cheapest Key". There are many talented women in this border country. But if I have to limit myself, Edwards is one of them I would always stick to. Asking is another brilliant album with an enviable musical flow and an artistic attitude that creates magic with simple means.
