Verdens Gang:  Failer

yet another strong female songwriter in a musical landscape that is custom-made for norwegian ears as well.

it's inevitable to escape a comparison with lucinda williams the first time you hear kathleen edwards. she's working in a melodious countryrock-landscape with a voice that is both hoarse and full of smoke, raw and sincere at the same time. it is no doubt that this woman has humor, after all she calls one of her best songs "one more song the radio won't like". the radio stations of the world don't have too much to brag about when it comes to this genre, but kathleen edwards can easily do something about that, either with her untidy guitar perls or more calm songs full of nerve like "mercury" and "national steel".
