Kathleen Edwards - Voyageur

Kathleen Edwards debuted with the EP Building 55 (1999) that was close to Lucinda Willimas alt-country. Through Failer (Zoë, 2002), Back To Me (Zoë, 2005), and Asking For Flowers (Zoë, 2008) Edwards morphed from Lucinda Williams into a typical 90s singer-songwriter like Sheryl Crow with a bit of Liz Phair.

Voyageur is the next album in the progression of her releases in the 2000s. "For the Record" is the best of her new collection and the one that does not play 90s normal rock band rave; it is not wholly unique, but the romantic guitar solo plays well off of her breathy vocals that can sound grating when competing with the bigger sound of a lot of other songs.
