Observations bloom into 'Flowers' for Edwards Kathleen Edwards admits that her music isn't easy to classify. The critically acclaimed Canadian singer-songwriter's third album, "Asking for Flowers," bows March 4 on Maple Music in Canada and Rounder in the United States. The new set, co-produced by Jim Scott (Tom Petty, Whiskeytown), offers a more elaborate take than before on Edwards' distinctive brand of pop, rock and Americana. "I delivered a record that I think is less commercial," she says. "A lot of people would probably be happy if I wrote a lot of poppy, catchy songs -- I'm just not in that head space." It took a while for Edwards to figure out what shape the record would take. "I really had nothing in the bank (song-wise) when I came off tour in 2006," she says.
