"Northern Sky"

All this talk of heading down South
Leaving behind the months you can do without
We'll go outside where the kids all are
Get out the shovels and dig out the cars

It's kilometers, it's not miles
And I want to drive under my Northern sky

And don't you worry about the shorter days
Go in the basement and get out the skates
And we'll meet at the rink where our friends all are
On our way home we'll stop at the bar

Because it's not champagne, it's sparkling wine
And I want to drink under my Northern sky

And the spring won't come
And the spring won't come
And put your long johns on
And get used to it

Put on your mittens and bundle up tight
Beause we're gonna find a bumper to shine tonight
And don't you worry about the Southern winds
They'll be here before you know it

[There's this story that we used to read in public school,
called The Cremation of Sam McGee, did you guys read that here?
Well, Sam McGee was always cold, I guess he was maybe American,
and he travelled up North and he was so bloody cold all the time,
he told his friend 'When I die, I want you to burn me'.
And I love that analogy, because it's such a Canadian thing,
and that's exactly how i'd like to be at the end of my life.
So this is who Sam McGee is.]

Because you're gonna find a bumper to shine tonight
And I want to be Sam McGee when I die
And burn my body under my Northern sky
My Northern sky
Northern sky
Northern sky
